Vista hits RTM, TechEd underway

To keep this short: Vista reached RTM yesterday, and was sent to manufacturing. Jim Allchin even blogged this on the Windows Vista Blog, and Paul Thurott already has RTM screenshots on his site… :)

I will probably write more on this subject when I return from TechEd. Right now, I’m in a conference room at the Barcelona International Conference Center, waiting for the following session to begin:

DEV237 Windows Vista Security
Rafal Lukawiecki
Thu Nov 9 09:00 – 10:15
Most up-to-date developers would readily recognise such attractive and visually innovative aspects of Microsofts upcoming Windows Vista as the Aero interface with Glass effects. It is very interesting to see that the deeper and more hidden aspects of this operating system contain an equal, if not greater amount of innovation and clever design in a large part related to security. This session will give you a good overview of all of the new security features of Windows Vista stressing, where appropriate (e.g. UAC), any impact they may have on developers. As there are so many new features to mention, do not expect this session to go too hard in-depth on any but instead to be very fast paced and overflowing with content. If you are not familiar with this area, we promise that you will come out with a good understanding of why Windows Vista is most likely going to be Microsofts most secure operating system yet, and, perhaps, one of the most secure systems around.

I got a chance to go to a whiteboard discussion on ASP.NET yesterday, and it was great. Here’s the overview:

DEVWD23 AJAX, ASP.NET and You: All About Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX
Shawn Burke
Wed Nov 8 13:30 – 14:45 , Wed Nov 8 17:00 – 18:15
Whiteboard Discussions are an opportunity for you to discuss products and technologies with our experts and to get specific questions answered. We will kick off this discussion with an introduction of Microsoft’s forthcoming AJAX framework for ASP.NET: ASP.NET AJAX. Next we’ll start the discussion on why AJAX is the future of ASP.NET and is sure to be one of the most talked-about products this year. Join other interested parties to discuss ASP.NET AJAX, pose questions, and provide solutions in what’s sure to be one of the liveliest whiteboard discussions around.

I hope I get a chance to post some pictures later today, or early tomorrow. I need to call it quits now, since the session is about to start. :)
