I plan to live forever. So far, so good.

Sometimes after mid-April, I will be attending this year’s “Microsoft | Academic Tour”, as a speaker. The event is dedicated to the launch of Windows Vista and Office 2007 in the academic environment. There will be four teams nationwide, going to more than 15 universities. My team will cover the north west, reaching Brasov, Cluj (UBB & UTCN), Oradea, and Tg. Mures.

The tour represents a great oportunity for students and teachers alike to find out how they can gain access to the new technology and to new learning sources. The events will take up roughly 4 hours. We’re proposing 4 presentations, each of them situated around 45 minutes. The target audience are the advanced users, system administrators and application developers, and so we’ve prepared a dedicated dialogue for these roles, starting from the basics, and going through real-life usage samples and future development trends.

All the speakers involved are members of the Microsoft Student Partners program (such as myself), who have all evaluated and adopted these technologies since their early stages. In many respects, we will use this Tour as a solid basis for evaluating the technology, and as a starting point for future development and school projects. We intend to stay in touch with the people interested in the technologies even after the Tour is over, and we hope that the resources we will provide in this Tour will be of much use to all of the people attending the events.

My presentation will deal with Windows Vista for advanced users and system administrators.
